David Randazzo says...
We have a 12 y/o male GSD named Stark. He's had DM now for approximately three yrs now and I'm afraid he's approaching the later stages of this horrible and cruel disease. My wife and I do everything we can do for him to make life as comfortable as possible and somewhat happy but like I said its getting close to the end of the good fight now. I just want to thank this wonderful organization for what they do and I pray that one day you do find a cure. May God bless all those who have lost their beloved furkids and all those dedicated researches and scientists who WILL find that cure.
We are so sorry your Stark is reaching the end of his journey David, but it is clear he will take his families love with him in his heart as we know he will leave his wonderful memories and love in your hearts.

Thank you a milion times over for all your very hard work, tears for our loses and precious time.

My best friend Rosie, a purebred GSD had DM and passed away in May 2016, nearing 13 yo. For the past 5 years I've researched and read about DM, trying to figure out a way to rid our dogs of this horrible disease. I just recently came across your website, looking for anyone who might be trying to find a cure so I could join the fight. Thank you for this!

DM took my girl away and now her brother more than likely has it.
Let's kill this disease

Cyndi says...We are so sorry to hear this. Every one of us on this team have been through this fight. It is an emotional roller coaster. Have you joined our Facebook page, and our sister support group on DM Awareness? Please click the " Helpful Links" tab above, and you will find the groups. They offer a weath of experience and support. We are here for you in any way we can. Wishing you strength as you and your baby fight this disease. We have an 11 year old Weimaraner that we were just told has DM. Our world is spinning out of control right now.
I just found your site and look forward to reading and finding out what we can do to help our loving boy Harley.
God Bless all of you and your pups!
Debbie says...So sorry for just replying. We have been experiencing web problems. To answer your question, no. We don't know of any studies right now that are targeted for younger dogs, but the University of Missouri may have ongoing studies. However, they are mostly geared toward corgis and boxers. There was also one a while back at Tufts Veterinary school in Mass. They may still take some canines for study. Have you had your pup tested for the DNA marker? We will be glad to help any way we can. Please follow us, as we are always looking for studies, and are currently hoping to continue our "Project New Hope" sometime this year. We wish you much luck dealing with this disease.
Is there any clinical studies for dogs that are young but are high risk for DM
Amy Beth Clark says...I am so sorry about your pup. DM is a tough thing to go through. I hope you are continuing to heal from this loss. Our apologies for not getting back sooner. We had had some web problems.
Just lost our beautiful shep who suffered from DM. We miss him deeply.

Hi
I am on this roller coaster at the moment my German Shepherd was diagnosed just under a year ago but he had it at least 6 months before it was confirmed. He is still able to walk but his left leg is showing the most of the signs but he is struggling to get up from the floor now. His name is Jai-Jai (JJ) he will be 11 in January. .
